- Check re:SearchTX for supported access or contact the responsible local clerk.
- Submit the official form or a clerk-specific request through an accepted channel.
- Select plain or certified paper copies and the permitted delivery method.
- Confirm current fees, payment instructions, and completion details with the custodian.
Jasper County Record Copy Form
The District Clerk request for copies asks for the customer’s name, address, phone, fax, email, cause number, plaintiff, defendant, document date, and requested documents. These fields help staff locate the exact Jasper County court record. When no cause number is given, the form states a $5 research fee.
Delivery choices are mail, email, and fax. Email and fax copies cannot be certified. Return mail requires a self-addressed, stamped envelope. The form does not state processing time, identification rules, payment method, or a separate electronic-copy fee. Ask the clerk about those points instead of assuming a policy.
Types of Court Records
Jasper County court records are divided by court and file type. A docket records events in time order. The file can include petitions, answers, motions, notices, orders, judgments, writs, and public exhibits. The District Clerk identifies civil and family cases, adoptions, divorces, juvenile matters, delinquent taxes, felony cases, judgments, executions, child support, and minor trusts among its duties.
- Docket sheets and chronological event lists
- Pleadings, motions, notices, and responses
- Signed orders, judgments, and executions
- Public exhibits retained in a case file
- Probate and County Court files kept by the County Clerk
Recorded deeds, plats, and instruments use the County Clerk’s official-public-record system. They are not court case records. Justice and municipal records remain with their own clerks.
Jasper County Clerk Offices
The same courthouse address can lead to two custodians. Room 202 is the District Clerk. Room 103 is the County Clerk. One office cannot certify a file held by the other, so match the court name before making a request.

What a Court Record Contains
A Jasper County file can hold both the docket index and filed documents. The docket tells when an event was entered. The document supplies the actual text. A signed final order is stronger evidence of a ruling than a brief event label. The copy form therefore asks for a document date and description, not just a party name.
| Case Number | The court’s unique cause identifier. |
|---|---|
| Pleadings | Petitions, answers, motions, and responses. |
| Orders & Judgments | Signed rulings and final written dispositions. |
| Docket Sheet | Chronological filings, settings, orders, and disposition entries. |
| Exhibits | Filed evidence and attachments, subject to access limits. |
Jasper Court Docket Versus Document
A docket entry can say an order was signed without displaying the order. It can list a motion without revealing the argument. For exact language, request the filed document by its name and date. A Jasper County case search can help identify the case before ordering copies.
eFileTexas is separate too. It sends filings to participating courts but is not a public document browser. The clerk accepts the filing, keeps the official record, and applies access restrictions. A portal image or event index is not a certified Jasper County court record.
Certified Copies and Fees
The 2024 Jasper County District Clerk schedule and copy form provide the researched local amounts. Ordinary and certified paper copies cost $1 per page. Certification and seal add $5. A record search costs $5 when the cause number is not supplied. Email and fax delivery cannot produce certified copies under the form.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Plain paper copy | $1 per page |
| Certified paper copy | $1 per page |
| Certification and seal | $5 |
| Record search without cause number | $5 |

Jasper County Record Charges
A search, copy, certification, issuance, and service are distinct clerk tasks. Their charges should not be blended. State portal access has another schedule: the re:SearchTX fee order states $0.10 per page, a $1 minimum per document, and a 30-day download period.
Tell the clerk at the start if a certified copy is needed. Choose paper delivery, include the self-addressed stamped envelope required for return mail, and confirm payment instructions. The form does not state a turnaround time. A requester should also confirm that a quoted fee schedule remains current before paying.
A precise request keeps the task clear. Give the cause number if known, then name the document and its filing or signing date. If only a docket entry is needed, say so. If the full case file is wanted, ask whether the volume, restricted items, or archived storage will affect the method or total. None of those added terms should be guessed from a short fee line. The clerk can distinguish a record search from page copying, certification, issuance, or service and provide the current total for the actual Jasper County court record request.
Jasper Court Records Versus OPR
The County Clerk links CountyGovernmentRecords for deeds and instruments. That index and the related recording fee notice concern official public records, not the documents behind a civil, criminal, family, or probate docket.
A property instrument may relate to a lawsuit without becoming the court’s filed record. Request the judgment or pleading from the court clerk. Use the OPR vendor for the recorded deed, plat, or instrument itself. This split also explains why an OPR result should not be described as a Jasper County court docket.

Its separate links and notices help readers avoid sending a recorded-instrument search to the District Clerk.
Public Access and Sealed Records
Texas court access does not fit one public-information rule. Government Code section 552.0035 treats the judiciary separately from ordinary agencies. Texas Courts’ open-records policy points to Rule 12 for many judicial-record requests. Case files also remain subject to court rules, statutes, and case-specific orders.
Key rules:
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 separates judiciary records from standard agency requests.
Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 provides a judicial-record request framework.
Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 76a governs access and sealing standards for civil court records.
Juvenile, adoption, sealed, expunged, and other confidential records may be withheld or redacted. Public docket entries can omit protected data. Jasper 1-A materials include a confidentiality policy, reinforcing that public access and unrestricted copying are not the same. A person with a lawful right to restricted material should ask the custodian about any required order, identification, or filing.
The custodian also determines which request rule fits the material. A case pleading is different from an administrative record about court operations. A document filed under seal is different from a public order that mentions the sealed filing. Ask for the narrow record needed and identify its court, date, and cause number. If the clerk denies or limits access, request the applicable reason and procedure instead of trying a different office that does not hold the file. This keeps the Jasper County court records request tied to the court with legal custody.
